Why UX Design?
When studying psychology at McGill University, I was given the opportunity to go to Singapore for a semester. My journey overseas almost instantly ignited a love for culture and a need to understand new perspectives.
Once I graduated, I was hooked. I wanted to integrate myself into new ways of life, so I worked to travel, and went back to East Asia two more times. In the meantime, I taught myself how to code HTML and CSS, and rediscovered my love for web design, something that I would do in my free time as a kid.
Once I secured a full-time job as a web designer, I couldn't help but impose my educational background in psychology to my work, and I wondered if there was a better way to integrate the needs of the user while still satisfying the client. I discovered UX design, and it all clicked (pun intended). The discipline perfectly integrated my educational background in human behavior, my need to learn about new perspectives and my passion for creating digital interfaces.
While I do wish that I had discovered UX sooner, I wouldn't change my experiences for anything. I believe that my unorthodox foray into the fascinating world of UX only adds to the vibrant and diverse community of digital designers today.
A Little More About Me...
When I'm not looking for ways to improve user experiences, you can find me testing out a new recipe, lifting heavy weights, or reading up on philosophy and culture.
